As her speech went on, the win still didn’t sink in for a stunned Krejcikova. She continued: “I still cannot believe it. It’s unbelievable. Just two weeks ago I had a very tough first match, three hours 15 minutes, winning 7-5 third set and I wasn’t really in a good shape before that because I was injured and ill and I didn’t really have a good beginning of the season. I mean, it’s unbelievable I’m standing here.”

The world No. 32 is now excited for a day off, though she doesn’t have any immediate plans for her celebrations. “I mean, I don’t know now. If somebody told me, I hope I can win but I didn’t know until the very last point so I will need some time,” she replied when Croft asked if she knew what she would treat herself to.

“I will talk to my team, I would like to thank them. We went through a lot, especially the last couple of months, and I’m super happy we got through and we are here, we can celebrate with this beautiful trophy and we can enjoy a day off tomorrow.”
