Arc Raiders developer Embark Studios is getting ready to release a big new update on PlayStation, Xbox and PC. The Arc Raiders Flashpoint update has a March 31 release date on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The update will be available to download and install from 9.30am BST UK time, or 1.30am PST / 4.30am EST for US players. You’ll need to download the update before being allowed to play online, so be warned.

As you can see from the early patch notes below, the headline new feature is the addition of the Close Scrutiny Map Condition, which is part of the new Arc Operation.

The Map Condition involves the appearance of a mysterious new threat to Arc Raiders fans.

The Assessor is a large object that is said to hold some pretty impressive loot. Indeed, there will be less loot available on maps, but more within the Arc Assessor.

Of course, gaining access to the Assessor won’t be easy, because there’s a new enemy called the Vaporizer patrolling the area.

Fortunately, however, the Flashpoint update also adds new weapons and items, including the Canto submachine gun that is said to give players a “fighting chance against ARC in close quarters combat”.

The Dolabra, meanwhile, is an energy shotgun with a variable focus allowing you to fire off a wide burst or a focused funnel of electricity.

“Head to the Close Scrutiny ARC Operation for the best chance of finding this Blueprint,” Embark explains.

Finally, the Surge Coil is a deployable device that periodically electrifies its surroundings. This should give players a better chance to explore.
