Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and Emma Raducanu learn Wimbledon fate as draw made | Tennis | Sport

Andy Murray has been drawn to face Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic in the first round at Wimbledon – and would not have to play until Tuesday.

The double Olympic champion would face Argentine No.26 seed Francisco Cerundolo in the second round.

The Scot, 37, has still to decide if he will enter the singles event after undergoing surgery to remove a spinal cyst on Saturday. Being in the bottom half of the draw – on the opposite side from defending champion Carlos Alcaraz – will give him an extra day to recover.

He ruptured his ankle ligaments playing against Machac at the Miami Open in March but still completed the match.

Emma Raducanu has been handed a tough return to Wimbledon after drawing Russian No.22 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova in the first round.

And with 19 Brits in the draw – the most this century – there are chances of two home players meeting. No.28 seed Jack Draper will play Swedish qualifier Elias Ymer with the winner facing either British No.2 Cam Norrie or Argentine Facundo Diaz Costa.

Wildcard Henry Searle would play the winner in the third round if he overcomes American Marcos Giron and No 4 seed Alex Zverev in the same section.

And wildcard Jacob Fearnley will likely play Novak Djokovic in the second round if he beats Spanish qualifier Alejandro Moro Canas.

Alcaraz and world No 1 Jannik Sinner are in the same half of the draw and on collision course for a blockbuster semi-final. The Spaniard will play the first match on Centre Court on Monday against Estonian qualifier Mark Lajal.

The Italian starts against German Yannick Hanfmann. He could face former finalist Matteo Berrettini in the second round.

Fran Jones will start against Petra Martic with the winner likely to face world No 1 Iga Swiatek in the second round.

British No 1 Katie Boulter will open against Germany’s Tatiana Maria. She could face a Battle of Britain in the second round if Harriet Dart beat Chinese qualifier Zhuo Bai

Wildcard Heather Watson will face Belgium’s Greet Minnen. Qualifier Sonay Kartal will bid to win her first Wimbledon main draw match against No 29 seed Sorana Cirstea of Romania.
