‘Amazing’ coastal town loved by locals is a hidden gem | UK | Travel

The coastal town on the Jurassic Coast – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – is the sort of place you want to go to enjoy “year-round outdoor activities”. As noted by West Dorset Leisure Holidays, there’s three miles of heritage tramway through nature reserves and countryside, boat trips, and beautiful walks. But perhaps the locals want to keep their “amazing place”, full of independent shops, under wraps.

One resident, Amy Bonser, told Express.co.uk: “We have an amazing coastline on the Jurassic Coast, amazing gardens… and some amazing shops.” There is said to be plenty of independent businesses making Seaton in East Devon “an amazing place for small traders”.

Another resident, and business owner, Carly Dean-Tribble said she fell in love with the area before setting up shop.

“Seaton has a particular charm to it,” she said. “I made my mind up that Seaton would be our home before we even viewed the business.”

Having opened up two cafes in the town – Pebbles Coffee House and Hideaway – Carly said she feels “very well supported by the local community”.

As there are “no big names” dominating the town centre, Carly feels as though “people put their heart and soul” into the businesses they run.

Described as the “natural capital” by Visit Devon, the place is a goldmine for nature lovers.

There’s an accessible beach, with “beautiful views across Lyme Bay” – just a short walk from the town centre shops – and Cliff Field Gardens.

Cliff Field Gardens also leads to one of Britain’s longest and most popular national trails, the South West Coast Path.

In Seaton, people can enjoy watersport activities, a walk along the beach, stunning scenery, and lots of boutiques.
