Two men arrested after girl, 9, dies in Birmingham car crash | UK | News
A nine-year-old has died following a two-vehicle crash in a major UK city. West Midlands Police were called to Icknield Street in the Hockley area of Birmingham at approximately 11pm on Thursday, April 2, after a two-car collision.
A passenger in one of the cars, a nine-year-old girl, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Sadly, despite the efforts of emergency responders, she died shortly afterwards.
West Midlands Police said in a statement on April 3: “Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this devastating time.”
The force added a woman and two other children from the same car were also taken to hospital to be assessed for injuries.
Their conditions aren’t known.
Two men aged 22 and 23 from the second car, a BMW, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs, the force also said.
Police closed off Icknield Street for several hours while forensic officers examined the scene as part of an investigation.
A police dog handler and drone team were also seen near to the Jewellery Quarter.
The force is appealing to people with information to come forward.
