‘One of the greatest horror films’ leaving Netflix | Films | Entertainment

Netflix subscribers only have a few days left to watch a ‘pure masterpiece’ horror film that is soon to be taken off the service.

A Quiet Place has a limited time remaining available to subscribers of the platform. This is despite the prequel film only recently being added to the streaming giant’s library.

While that title expands on the film series’ lore and explains how the otherworldly monsters arrived on earth, the original is what sparked a modern horror franchise.

The film portrays a family in a post-apocalyptic world who must live in silence to evade mysterious creatures that hunt by sound. If they hear you, they hunt you.

Aware that even the slightest whisper or footstep can bring death, Evelyn and Lee are resolved to find a way to safeguard their children while desperately seeking a way to fight back.

Its story was conceived by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods who went on to create Heretic together. Meanwhile, it was directed by former star of The Office, John Krasinski who co-wrote the screenplay and also stars alongside his real-life wife Emily Blunt, reports the Mirror.

The film rapidly became a cinematic sensation upon its release back in 2018, with cinema-goers claiming it would be the quietest they had ever experienced movie theatres. Unsurprisingly, it boasts a near perfect 96% score on website Rotten Tomatoes, with many still recommending it as a must-watch title for everyone, even those unaccustomed to horror.

Regrettably, time is ticking for Netflix subscribers to view the film on their platform. A new message now displays beneath the title indicating the final day to watch it is on April 15. This means there are only a few weeks remaining before it is withdrawn from the library.

One enthusiast expressing their views online went as far as to label it “a pure masterpiece!” Another individual posted a similar opinion stating: “This is one of the best horror films in the last 20 years and maybe even one of the greatest horror films of ALL TIME. This film is a modern day masterpiece.”

Another added: “Proof how silence can be a key power player. Almost no dialogue and you’re glued to your seat for this film. A fresh perspective on the horror genre but also on the survival thriller genre as well. A genre bending thriller that makes your skin crawl. Director John Krasinski did an excellent job with this marking his third directorial feature but first major studio film.”

While another person commented: “An incredibly tense and ultimately entertaining horror-thriller with committed performances from Emily Blunt, John Krasinski and their young co-stars-stars.”

One individual stated: “A suspenseful masterpiece. A Quiet Place is a revolutionary horror icon that is gripping from start to finish. It’s not graphic and relies on the absence of sound to truly startle the audience. I’ve seen a lot of horror films, and this is by far one of the best.”

A Quiet Place is streaming on Netflix until April 15.
