Vape giant plunges into administration – ‘largest supplier in Britain’ | UK | News

A Midland vape distributor has entered administration following the submission of a notice on Friday (March 20), according to the Gazette. Leicestershire-based JM Wholesale filed the notice through Shakespeare Martineau, with Christopher Lewis and Chris Newell at Quantuma named as administrators. The firm distributes vape devices, e-liquids, disposable vapes and nicotine pouches, offering over 15,000 products.

It has formerly portrayed itself as the largest distributor within the vaping, CBD and smoking category in the UK. A message on its website reads: “We are not accepting orders at this time. The website is currently undergoing maintenance. Thank you for your patience.” According to its latest accounts, for the year ending February 2025, the company had 47 staff members.

No additional information regarding the circumstances behind the administration process has been revealed.

JM Wholesale was founded in 2017 by universitystudents after they struggled to find the “quality products” that they wanted online.

Just four years later, in 2021, the company moved to a larger premises in Leicester and hired 30 new members of staff. At the time, management said they hoped to be in the new space for the next decade.

It was also the first mainstream CBD wholesaler in the UK, and CBD is now reportedly one of the fastest-growing industries in the country.

In 2022, the company won the Business Elite Awards’ Best Vape & E-liquid Wholesaler, Global Excellence Awards’ Best CBD Distributor & Manufacturer, and the Corporate Excellence Awards’ Most Innovative Wholesale Distributor.

This comes just under a year after the ban on the sale and supply of single-use vapes came into force across the UK, aiming to reduce environmental waste and curb youth nicotine addiction.
