Trump makes bombshell Iran nuclear weapons claim | World | News
Donald Trump has made a bombshell claim over Iran’s use of nuclear weapons, while also myeriously teasing a “very big present worth a tremendous amount of money” from Tehran. Speaking to the reporters at the White House, the US President said that Iran has “agreed they will never have a nuclear weapon”.
The statement comes weeks after the US-Israel launched a joint missile attack on Iran. On Tuesday, Mr Trump was questioned about his latest announcement of a five-day ceasefire, to which he said: “The fact they are talking to us, and they us talking sense. Remember, it all started that they can never happen a nuclear weapon.. I don’t want to say in advance… but they have agreed. They will never have a nuclear weapon.” However, Iran has not issued any statement on the matter so far.
The US President further claimed that the US has won the war with Iran. He said: “You know, I don’t like to say this — we’ve won this, because this war has been won, the only one that likes to keep it going is the fake news.”
On being asked about Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner’s peace talks with Iran, he said: “We are in negotiations right now. They are doing it along with Marco, JD.
“The other side, I can tell you, they’d like to make a deal. Who wouldn’t if you were them? Their navy’s gone, their air force is gone, their communications… all of their anti-aircraft, their missiles. Can you name a single thing that’s not gone? Or one thing that’s doing well? We are roaming free over Tehran. We can do whatever we want.”
He portrayed the US mission in the country as a “tremendous success,” highlighting familiar claims about eliminating key Iranian leaders and weakening both its military and naval capabilities.
He said: “The leaders are all gone. Nobody knows who to talk to But we’re actually talking to the right people, and they want to make a deal so badly. You have no idea how badly they want to make a deal, and we’ll see what happens.”
On Monday morning, Mr Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, promising to hold off on striking Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period as talks continue, after having previously threatened to “obliterate” these targets unless Iran opens the Strait of Hormuz.
