A “lifestyle” hotel has re-opened on the site of a former BBC recording studio in west London. Hotel Indigo London K West Shepherd’s Bush features 231 bedrooms, an open, kitchen style restaurant, bar and spa, which is undergoing final renovations and not expected to open until later this year.

Performers including David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley recorded at the site under its previous guise as BBC Kensington House. The hotel is described by hotel group, IHG, as blending “neighbourhood character” and “contemporary style”.

A dog-friendly venue, 231 rooms are spread over seven floors, with 13 accessible rooms. There is free Wi-Fi.

The hotel boasts a fitness centre, which includes free weights, a rowing machine, treadmill, onsite sports trainer and elliptical machines.

There is also access to Holland Park Golf Range located off-site where golfers can use driving range bays and short game practice.

Nearby attractions include Westfield London shopping centre, Portobello Road market, O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Hammersmith Apollo and Kensington Olympia.

The hotel features a restaurant, Flock, which offers a modern European menu including wood-fired pizza, sharing platters and grills, according to the hotel’s website.

Prices vary depending on dates, but a standard room for two guests in April ranges from £106 to £241 per night. A full breakfast costs an extra £22, according to Expedia.

The accommodation search provider also says Hotel Indigo London K West Shepherd’s Bush doesn’t offer parking.

The rebranding comes are owner, Lancaster Landmark Hotel Company, agreed a deal in 2023 with IHG Hotels & Resorts to rebrand K West Hotel.

Previous guests, writing on TripAdvisor before the refurbishment was completed, hailed the hotel’s location and proximity to public transport links.

Overall, the hotel is rated “good” on the reviews platform, although the comments date to before the venue reopened in March.
