The Department for Work and Pensions will be increasing its Personal Independence Payments (PIP) from April – and you might be able to claim. The DWP has shared a full list of 178 medical conditions which could see you claim support of £194.60 per week – if you’re eligible.
With the start of the new financial year just around the corner, the payment will increase along with other benefits. PIP payments are given to people who need extra help with daily living tasks. The disability benefit will be paid to those with long-term physical or mental health conditions, disabilities, or learning difficulties. Sums of £80 or £114.60 will be paid to recipients each week during the 2026/2027 financial year, depending on the level of support needed. If you qualify, there’s up to £194.60 available.

PIP those who need help with daily living tasks, particularly people of State Pension age who want to maintain their independence at home. The payments are non-means-tested and tax-free.
Personal Independence Payments are provided to individuals with long-term illnesses, mental health conditions, or physical or learning disabilities.
Eligibility for PIP is not determined by National Insurance contributions, and it’s not means-tested – meaning that even if you’re employed, have savings, or are receiving other benefits, you can still qualify for the payments to help you with daily living tasks.
PIP consists of a daily living rate and a mobility rate – you may be eligible for just one of these payments or both at the same time. Both of these rates offer a standard rate and an enhanced rate.
How much is PIP?
These are the latest weekly rates which will be paid from April, but it’s crucial to remember that PIP is paid every four weeks:
Daily living component: £76.70 (lower weekly rate) or £114.60 (higher weekly rate)
Mobility component: £30.30 (lower weekly rate) or £80.00 (higher weekly rate)
So, if you qualify for both the enhanced daily living and enhanced mobility components of the payments, you will receive a total of £194.60 every four weeks.
If you qualify for both the standard daily living and standard mobility components, you will receive £107 every four weeks
