Chelsea have four options to replace Rosenior as owners ‘consider sack’ | Football | Sport
From rows with opposition coaches and now ‘centre-circle gate’, Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea tenure has been characterised by events off the pitch, as much as ones on it. But with recent results having started to slide in the wrong direction, talk about a change in the managerial department has started to pick up.
Express Sport have picked out four potential candidates for the job…
It’s about time the Spanish coach tested himself in the Premier League. right? Luis Enrique is revered as one of the best managers on the planet, but unlike most of his elite counterparts, has never managed in England’s top flight. Enrique did have an interview with Chelsea back in 2023, before the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino. Having conquered Europe with Paris Saint-Germain, now would be the perfect time to test his capabilities in the continent’s most competitive league.
Talk about a fan favourite. Cesc Fabregas was adored by the Stamford Bridge faithful during his five-year stint as a player and would command immediate respect from everyone involved with the club. Not least after his exploits in charge of Como, where, just a couple of months out from the end of the season, the Serie A outfit are in the mix for a Champions League position. A move to a big club in Europe is surely just around the corner, but what if it’s to Chelsea?
From one member of the 2014/15 title-winning side, to another. Felipe Luis reportedly held talks with the Blues to take over from Enzo Maresca earlier this year, having impressed as a coach with Flamengo in Brazil. Despite lifting the 2025 Copa Libertadores, becoming the ninth man to win it as a player and a coach, Luis was sacked by Flamengo earlier this year. Perhaps that interest could be rekindled if Chelsea are on the lookout again this summer?
Probably the easiest manager on this list to lure to Stamford Bridge, given he’s set to be on the lookout for a new job in the summer. Oliver Glasner has already announced his departure from Crystal Palace, with several big teams in the division said to be keeping tabs. It would be a departure from the type of coaches BlueCo have gone for during their Chelsea reign, but maybe it’s time to try something different.
