Louis Theroux’s “best documentary to date” is available to stream now and it’s not his viral Manosphere film.

The broadcaster has just unveiled his first feature-length work for Netflix, entitled Inside the Manosphere.

It runs for just 90 minutes and explores the expanding world of social media personalities who claim to teach young men how to achieve successful lives. Their views are rooted in traditional gender roles and have been condemned as misogynistic by critics.

Whilst their material is hugely contentious, the influencers earn millions through brand collaborations and subscription-based platforms, encouraging them to continue producing provocative content, reports the Mirror.

Theroux’s most recent offering has left audiences craving more from the documentary-maker and they’re in luck. His “intense” 2022 series, Louis Theroux’s Forbidden America, is available to watch for free on BBC iPlayer.

In this three-episode series, Theroux journeys across the United States speaking with content producers who inhabit controversial sections of the internet.

A description reveals: “Traveling throughout the country, Louis meets an assortment of content creators: young and inflammatory far-right streamers, rap stars who share their chaotic and violent lives with their online fans, and porn performers who earn a living via online subscription services using their power to call out the behaviours of alleged industry predators.”

The docuseries was an immediate success upon its debut, securing a rare 100% Rotten Tomatoes score from eight reviews.

The Independent bestowed a five-star review, declaring: “There’s no both-sides here; it’s Louis vs them, and by extension it’s us vs them. A depressing, eye-opening vision of where things are headed.”

A viewer on Reddit characterised the series as “an intense watch” before stating: “Absolute madness but also one of Theroux’s best docs made to date.”

Whilst another commended on Letterboxd: “A very interesting documentary, Louis’s on a roll.”

And a third chimed in: “Just can’t go wrong with a Louis Theroux documentary. Also watched his new Manosphere doc today which was also great.”

However, some felt the programme failed to provide new insights into how social media propels controversial belief systems. “Nothing new, revealing or shocking to see here,” penned an IMDb user.

You can now stream Inside the Manosphere, which has been labelled as ‘terrifying’, on Netflix.
