Emergency services said at least two people have been injured in the collision.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Emergency services are currently at the scene of a multi-vehicle collision on the M5 near Exeter.

“Police were called at 11.30am today, 13 March, following the collision on the southbound carriageway between Junctions 28 and 29.

“Ambulance and fire are also on scene. At least two people are believed injured at this time.

“The M5 is closed southbound at Junction 28 and is being closed northbound at Junction 29 to enable the air ambulance to land.

“Motorists are urged to find an alternative route for the time being.”
