Beautiful UK island where you can live for free and earn £24,000 for unique job | UK | Travel

If you’re looking to relocate somewhere remote and you have some baking experience, then there’s a beautiful Scottish island that may have the perfect job listing for you. The Island Bakery in Tobermory, located on the rugged Isle of Mull, is hiring two members of production staff — and the job comes with a two-bed home.

The bakery is quite well-known, selling its famous cookies through a number of luxury retailers, including Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. The job listing states that the salary is £22,000–£24,000, and very little experience is required, meaning if you’re looking to give up the busy city life for a more idyllic life, it may be time to update your CV. There are two scheduling options for the role: 2pm to midnight, Monday to Thursday, or 6am to 2pm, Monday to Friday.

The listing has spread online because it features a two-person flat, as job listings with a property on the Isle of Mull are fairly rare.

And the bakery has specified that it will prioritise applicants willing to share the apartment, since the space is designed for two residents. If you have a partner or friend who also wants to relocate, you may have a better chance of being accepted.

With a population of just 900, Tobermory is truly remote, with a journey from Glasgow typically involving a drive of two and a half hours to Oban, followed by a 45-minute ferry trip to Craignure and then a further 35-minute drive to reach the village.

Lonely Planet praised its “cinematic scenery” and “distinct wildlife,” noting that while it may not enjoy Mediterranean sunshine, the village still offers breathtaking landscapes and world-class seafood.

The island’s rare wildlife includes gold and white-tailed eagles, minke whales, and basking sharks, all of which you may see regularly if you relocate to this stunning village.
