Four of the soldiers killed in the Iran operation launched by the US and Israel on the weekend have been named and pictured. Six soldiers died when an “unmanned aircraft system” evaded air defences to hit a command centre in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, on Sunday.

Initally the US Central Command said three soldiers died in the attack, but officials confirmed on Monday the death toll had doubled, after one died from their injuries, and two additional bodies were discovered in the rubble. These six are the only fatalities confirmed by the US military since it and Israel launched an attack against Iran’s leadership and military. All were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines, lowa.

Addressing the deaths President Donald Trump warned: “Sadly, there will likely be more before it ends. That’s the way it is likely to be more. But we’ll do everything possible where that won’t be the case.”

He added that “we grieve for the true American patriots who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, even as we continue the righteous mission for which they gave their lives”.

The soliders were identified by the US military as: Capt Cody Khork, 35, Sgt Noah Tietjens, 42, Sgt Nicole Amor, 39, and Sgt Declan Coady, 20.

“We honor our fallen Heroes, who served fearlessly and selflessly in defense of our nation. Their sacrifice, and the sacrifices of their families, will never be forgotten,” said Lt. Gen. Robert Harter, Chief of Army Reserve and Commanding General U.S. Army Reserve Command.
