The ‘best UK beach’ to visit this Spring has been revealed, offering some of the most spectacular coastal landscapes and scenic walks.
Dotted along the shores of Great Britain are stretches of sand or pebble beaches with hidden coves and lapping waves against the backdrop of rugged cliffs or Victorian promenades. The coastal landscapes are undoubtedly diverse, offering some of the most breathtaking vistas, with more than 1,000 beaches lining our shores.
Some of the most popular seaside locations, attracting thousands of visitors every year, are those found in Cornwall, Devon, and Dorset, with their surfing waves, golden sand beaches and charming towns. But away from the tourist hotspots are the lesser-known beaches that shouldn’t go unnoticed, particularly as we head nearer Spring.

The experts at Go Outdoors have named Cuckmere Haven in East Sussex as the ‘best UK beach’ to visit this Spring, thanks to its majestic chalk-white cliffs, pristine waters, and sprawling shingle beach. The experts analysed average spring temperatures, rainfall, sunshine hours, and Google reviews to determine that Cuckmere Haven is the place to visit, and it’s easy to see why.
The beautiful shore is uniquely found where the River Cuckmere meets the English Channel, and is home to part of the mesmerising Seven Sisters chalk cliffs. Stretching between the River Cuckmere and Beachy Head, the eroding chalk cliffs are within the South Downs National Park and offer some of the most dramatic coastal views.
They are a staple among the English coast and have even been featured in various movies, including Harry Potter, Atonement and Wicked. The coastguard cottages, which are perched along the clifftops, are another notable landmark and only add to the shores’ picturesque views.

Visitors to Cuckmere Haven can marvel at the iconic, towering cliffs while walking along the shingle beach or hiking along one of the nearby coastal paths. There are also scenic walks along the Cuckmere River, or on the four-mile circular route from Cuckmere Haven via Chyngton.
The East Sussex coastline also boasts an average of 7.8 hours of daily sunshine during the spring, and just 52mm of rainfall per month. Expected to enjoy mild spring weather, it might just be the perfect time to warrant a visit.
Cuckmere Haven has received glowing reviews on TripAdvisor, as one visitor said: “We think you have the best view of the Seven Sisters here. A nice walk down and above the cliffs. Spectacular views!”
Another penned: “Wow – this iconic sight takes your breath away! The cliffs are blindingly white, and the beach and surrounding countryside are so pretty. Everyone should see this once in their lifetime.”

Ahead of beaches to enjoy during the Spring months, Calum Jones, Author & Outdoor Enthusiast at GO Outdoors, said: “As the days get longer and the weather warms up, spring is the perfect time to explore the stunning coastlines across the UK. From Druridge Bay Beach in the North East to Immeridge Bay in the South West, there are breathtaking beaches to discover all around the country.
“When planning your spring beach trip, keep in mind that British weather can still be unpredictable. Bring a waterproof jacket to stay dry in case of sudden showers, choose supportive, waterproof footwear for any slippery sand or rocks, and layer your clothing so you can easily adjust to changing temperatures.
“Sun protection is also important, even in spring. Apply a generous layer of suncream before you head out, and don’t forget a cap and sunglasses to shield yourself from harmful UV rays.”
