All Sky TV users lose two popular channels this week as major shake-up confirmed

Sky recently announced a major channel shakeup, which will affect all customers using its popular telly service. Now, this major change – which includes two channels leaving the platform and one being revived – is just a few days away, with the update arriving in homes from February 24. So what’s new and how will it affect you? The biggest news is that, after being off air for five years, the iconic Sky One service is returning to screens.

Sky is boasting that the revived channel will feature a wide mix of comedy and entertainment. This will include new shows such as The Dyers’ Caravan Park and Gemma Collins: Four Weddings and a Baby.

Other fan favourites that will make an appearance include Rob & Romesh Vs.., The Paper, and Ted. Sky One will also become the home of Saturday Night Live UK, which is due to launch later this year.

Those wanting to watch will find Sky One on channel 106.

So that’s the good news, but this relaunch does come at a cost. Sky has confirmed that Sky Showcase and Sky Max will shut down for good this week, with programmes moving to Sky One instead.

The firm hopes this will bring everything into a single dedicated hub, making it easier for viewers to find their favourite programmes.

“Our goal is to make it easier than ever for Sky TV customers to discover and enjoy the shows they love,” said Carli Kerr, Managing Director of Sky TV & NOW. “Building on the iconic heritage of Sky One, the channel will be a bold and energetic destination, combining brand-new Sky Originals with returning favourites and highly anticipated shows like Saturday Night Live UK.”

Sky One will officially launch on channel 106 on Tuesday, 24 February.

The return of this channel isn’t the only boost coming from Sky. The UK television provider is introducing an impressive new subscription plan that bundles some of the world’s most popular streaming services at a lower monthly cost.

For just £24 per month, new and existing customers will get access to Disney+, Netflix, Hayu and the feature-packed HBO Max app, which is set to launch next month.

And that’s not all. Subscribers to the Ultimate TV plan will also receive more than 130 premium channels, including Sky Comedy, Sky Documentaries, Sky Crime, Sky History and more.

There is another bonus of signing up with Sky Cinema users benefiting from a dedicated Disney movie channel, which is being added directly to the TV guide.

This will allow them to watch Hollywood hits without opening the Disney+ app.

HERE’S EVERYTHING INCLUDED IN THE £24 PLAN

• Netflix Standard with Ads

• Disney+ Standard with Ads – from March

• HBO Max Basic with Ads – from March 26th

• Hayu from July, with a selection of top shows available from March
