Fury in Majorca as ‘out of mallorca’ graffiti spotted | World | News

Tensions have flared in the southeast of Mallorca after hateful graffiti was discovered on a villa in Santanyí reportedly targeting foreign homeowners. The message sprayed on the exterior of a property owned by German nationals included the phrase “Out of Mallorca,” calling the owners “nazis.” A video showing the vandalism was sent by the homeowner’s gardener to Jorge Pérez, the sole councillor for VOX at the local town hall who publicly condemned the act.

Pérez described the graffiti as “extremely serious” and an “intolerable attack” driven by hate and aimed at a specific community within the municipality. He argued the incident should not be dismissed as simple vandalism but viewed as a serious act targeting residents who have lived, worked and invested in the town of Santanyí for many years.

The town hall confirmed that no official complaint had yet been lodged with the local police by the property owners, the Majorca Daily Bulletin reported.

Town hall representatives urged anyone affected by similar incidents to report them formally, stressing that investigations can only proceed if complaints are registered with law enforcement authorities. They also encouraged residents with information about possible suspects to come forward.

Mayor of Santanyi, María Pons, said: “We condemn any act of vandalism against any person or community, regardless of nationality.”

She added: “For many years the German community has lived in the municipality, and there has never been an attack against them, as they are well integrated and are active members of our society.

“The German community is highly respected by the locals and there has never been social conflict between Germans and Mallorcans.”

This is not the first time anti-German slogans have surfaced in Mallorca. Similar messages have previously been reported in summer 2025 in Santanyí, where shopfronts and vehicles with German number plates were targeted.

Phrases such as “Germans out” and “Foreign buyers, go to hell” were spray-painted on windows, doors and cars in the southern part of the island.

The graffiti has emerged amid wider anger over soaring property prices, with some local residents arguing that wealthy foreign buyers are pricing residents out of the housing market and reshaping the character of traditional communities.

Meanwhile, the group Menys Turisme Més Vida has announced an assembly on Friday February 20 to consider further demonstrations, arguing that what it sees as the Balearic Government’s failed sustainability pact has done little to curb overcrowding on the islands.
