Prince William could have saved the monarchy with latest admission | Royal | News
Prince William is a prince of the modern day, with his latest personal admission very likely to increase support for the monarchy once more. This week, The Prince of Wales has stepped away from his usual royal engagements and instead appeared on a pre-recorded episode of Radio 1’s Life Hack, alongside host Greg James, rapper Professor Green and representatives from a mental health charity.
During the episode, which aims to raise awareness of men’s mental health, William spoke in a way that can only be described as refreshing. He didn’t just fire off statistics and generic quotes, but he spoke from the heart, acknowledging how important mental health help is. He also acknowledged that he himself has struggled before, especially when he worked as an air ambulance pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) between March 2015 and July 2017.
While the radio episode may not interest everyone, I think that William’s honest and open admissions about mental health this week could save the monarchy.
Why you ask? Because he has emphasised one of the most important tyings to remember when it comes to the Royal Family.
That yes they may have Palaces, and staff, and state banquets, and all sorts of privileges that others may not, but they are still human. And not only that, but they are humans with feelings and emotions just like the rest of us.
While of course many of us already knew and understood that, it does reiterate to some that the Royal Family aren’t so different from the rest of us.
And with a future king talking about mental health, what better way to appeal to the younger generation, who seem to become more and more aware of the mental health challenges that exist around the world.

I mean, if The Prince of Wales has “bad days”, then doesn’t that make us all feel that it’s ok to not always be feeling perfect?
In the episode, William’s honesty about his own down days, his own ways to check in on himself and how he is feeling, will no doubt resonate with people across the world.
And this, as a royal expert, is what I think is so important. Because whether we are a prince, a politician, a supermarket shopkeeper, or so on, we all have our own struggles. And we can all help each other.
Yes he may be a future King, but he really does understand the problems we can all face at times. And that is exactly what we need from a future monarch, especially one that may one day need to save the monarchy from the turbulence it has now been experiencing for years.
