LookFantastic’s £50 Mother’s Day edit is worth £180

It might feel a little early to be brainstorming for a Mother’s Day gift, but there’s nothing wrong with getting ahead so you’re not caught empty-handed come March 15. If you’re looking to treat your Mum (or any mother in your life) on her special day, a gift set is always a good idea, and LookFantastic has just launched one that can save you £130 on skincare, makeup and haircare goodies from big brands.

The Mother’s Day Edit contains eight products from top brands like Clinique, Elemis and Olaplex, and is said to be collectively worth over £180, but shoppers get it for £50. This means the box helps save around 72% compared to buying all the products individually.

Inside, you’ll find a versatile selection of products, packed in a reusable makeup bag that’s perfect for keeping toiletries while travelling. There’s a mix of popular products and new favourites to try, and five of the eight come in full sizes.

The set is perfect for anyone in need of a little pick-me-up, and even though this is a Mother’s Day gift, the products inside aren’t particularly aimed at one age group or specific skin concern, so it will be easy to gift.

The edit doesn’t offer much by way of skincare, but it does include a mini sunscreen – specifically the Pro-Collagen Skin Protection Fluid from Elemis, which has SPF50. Sun protection is an underrated and essential part of any routine, as it can protect skin against damaging rays that can cause fine lines and uneven pigmentation.

The specific one is formulated with marine algae and Lithops stem cells, and promises to help skin feel more hydrated while also promoting a brighter complexion. It’s a fluid, which makes it super easy to apply and layer with other skincare products. The brand also claims it has no dreaded white cast, which was confirmed by several customers in their reviews. One said: “The product itself is lovely, no white cast and leaves a dewy look. I have used this on its own after cleansing and toning, and it had no adverse effects on my mature, sensitive skin. It’s hydrating and is ideal for everyday use, even on its own if in a hurry.”

The edit also includes three makeup products that are great for those days when you don’t really feel like wearing any. A slick of mascara is a low-effort step that can instantly make you feel and look more awake, and the set contains a tube of Clinique’s High Impact Mascara in classic black. It has a buildable, volumising formula that promises to be clump-free, and like most of Clinique’s products, it’s fragrance and oil-free. A fan of the mascara said it’s great for everyday makeup, writing: “I like it as it is light and very black, and it lasts for hours without dropping on your face.”

There is also a Fenty lip liner in the shade Apri’Caught, a versatile peachy shade that can easily be used on both the lips and cheeks, to add a healthy glow in a pinch. And speaking of a healthy glow, the edit also includes a loose bronzer powder from Bare Minerals that makeup enthusiasts are loving. One wrote: “This powder gives a nice natural glow. I use this instead of blush.”

Our hair goes through a lot in the winter, with hair dryers and hot tools constantly drying it out. The edit has a really nice selection of haircare products, all aimed at hydrating and repairing hair just in time for spring. There is a purifying shampoo from Christophe Robin, which contains thermal mud and red algae to cleanse the scalp and soften hair, promising to keep it fresher for longer.

There is also a leave-in conditioner from Olaplex that can be used before styling to protect dry, dehydrated hair, or between washes to help protect the ends from further damage. It claims to hydrate hair, repair split ends, and protect hair from heat up to 450F/232C.

For ends that need a little more attention, there’s also a full-size tube of Philip Kingsley’s Bond Builder Split End Remedy, which claims to repair broken bonds and heal split ends while protecting strands from further damage. Results are said to last for up to three washes, with extra protection against UV, pollution and styling tools.

A shopper called this a “gamechanger”, writing: “Amazing product, it literally eradicates split ends! Save countless trips to the hairdressers, and you get a ton of compliments about how healthy your hair looks.”

As an extra special touch, there is also a full-size Seychelles hand cream from The White Company, which is great for keeping by the sink to keep hands hydrated. It’s made with nourishing sweet almond oil and shea butter, and smells like bergamot, coconut, jasmine and vanilla.
