A major road close to a motorway has been shut following a ‘serious’ collision.

The A5 in Warwickshire is closed southbound between the M42 Junction 10 and the B4116 near Atherstone after the crash.

The route is anticipated to stay shut throughout the night and into Friday morning, February 6 whilst emergency services attend to the incident, The Mirror reports.

Diversion routes have been established as recovery work is undertaken.
