UK’s ‘best’ networks for iPhone and Android users and two are beating the rest
Anyone using an iPhone or Android device who wants the very best mobile signal might be best switching to EE or Three. These two popular UK networks have just come out on top in the latest tests, with both outperforming rivals such as O2 and Vodafone. The latest data scores have been confirmed by the team at nPerf, with both standard 4G and faster 5G download speeds measured.
The independent internet performance measurement platform says that EE and Three both share the leadership of mobile internet in the United Kingdom.
During its test, nPerf found that EE scored an average download speed of 110.44Mbps with Three achieving 110.72Mbps for standard mobile access.
When it comes to 5G, Three is leading the pack with a rapid average of 234Mbps. Vodafone and EE also performed well in these tests, with O2 not too far behind.
As a quick guide, 100Mbps access would allow a phone users to download a full HD movie in well under 10 minutes. It’s also easily quick enough to stream movies on the move in 4K resolution.
Here are the scores from nPerf’s tests.
STANDARD ACCESS (4G) SPEEDS
THREE – 110.72Mbps
EE – 110.44Mbps
VODAFONE – 74.56Mbps
O2 – 44.07Mbps
5G DATA SPEEDS
THREE – 234.28Mbps
VODAFONE – 157.35Mbps
EE – 139.99Mbps
O2 – 102.67Mbps
It’s worth noting that testing mobile connectivity can be notoriously tricky due to factors such as weather conditions, measuring speeds both indoors and outdoors along with where different phone masts are situated. That said, it seems Three offers the best overal experience with EE and Vodafone not far behind.
Explaining more, Sébastien de Rosbo, CEO of nPerf, said: “The UK mobile market demonstrates strong competition at the top, with both leaders delivering comprehensive performance and user experiences that benefit from high-speed connectivity across all key indicators”.
