A ‘dramatic and intense’ spy thriller featuring a stellar cast airs on Film4 tonight, and it’s ‘worth watching’ according to cinema enthusiasts.
Our Kind of Traitor, released in 2016, is a spy thriller adapted from John le Carré’s novel of the same name.
The film takes audiences on a twisting and turning thriller where a British couple, academic Perry (Ewan McGregor) and barrister Gail (Naomie Harris), become embroiled in a Russian mafia defection.
Whilst holidaying in Morocco, they befriend Dima (Stellan Skarsgård), a charismatic money launderer for the Russian Mafia, but when Dima requests his assistance to broker a deal with MI6, Perry finds himself suddenly plunged into the perilous world of international espionage.
Other John le Carré adaptations have successfully made the transition to the big screen and television series, and this one proves no exception with fan reviews commending it.

On film ratings website Rotten Tomatoes, where the film boasts a 72 per cent score from fans, one viewer saying: “With a 50% audience rating and 72% critic rating, I very nearly gave this one a miss, but I had it recorded, and something kept me circling over that play button, and I am so glad I chose to watch it rather than delete it.”, reports the Mirror.
“A really enjoyable movie. And yes; I’m the kind of guy who likes DaVinci Code, Bourne and Red October and stuff like that.”
Another shared similar sentiments as they said: “This spy movie was great. Ewan McGregor, Stellan Skarsgard, Naomie Harris, Damian Lewis, and the rest of the cast did a great job in this movie.
“The plot of the movie was dramatic, thrilling, and intense. It’s about fighting to protect the people you love from a powerful criminal organization and taking them down in the process. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It’s worth watching.

“Fabulous. Gripping story. First class performances by Ewan McGregor, Naomi Harris, Stellan Skarsgard, Damian Lewis and a great appearance by Mark Gatiss,” added a third viewer. “Can’t fault it. Beautifully shot. Essential character development. Full of suspense. Loved it.”
A fourth contributor noted: “Fans of The Constant Gardener will likely enjoy this, I know we did. Missing much of the detail that made the novel engrossing and more gritty, the incredible cast manages to convey much of the back story by sheer suggestion.
“Le Carre’ was co-author of the screenplay, so if he was happy with it, I won’t complain.”
A fifth observer said: “Definitely a great spy story, with awesome acting that keeps you on your toes the whole time.
“A spy-movie that relies on solid script writing to develop the suspense and drama about an M16 agent and a British couple,” added another fan.
Our Kind of Traitor airs on Tuesday 3 February on Film4 at 11.25pm.
