Pensioner fighting for life after car crash in Liverpool | UK | News

A 90-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car in Liverpool. Merseyside Police said it received reports of the incident in Walton Hall Avenue at 10.25pm on Saturday (January 31).

The force said the pensioner was taken to hospital with multiple injuries and described his condition as critical after he was hit by the driver of a silver Vauxhall Corsa. Police said the driver, a man in his 50s, stopped at the scene and has been helping officers with their enquiries, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Sgt Phil Everett from Merseyside Police’s Roads Policing Unit said: “An elderly man is in a critical condition in hospital following this incident, and our officers are working hard to establish the full circumstances of the collision.”

Part of Walton Hall Avenue was closed on Sunday morning (February 1) as forensics officers continued their investigation, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Merseyside Police is appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage who was in the area at the time to get in touch.

Mr Everett said: “We would like to hear from anyone who might have been driving in the area of Walton Hall Avenue at about 10.25pm on Saturday who saw any part of this incident.

“If you have dashcam, please check it in case you have captured evidence that could prove vital to our enquiries.

“If you live locally and have CCTV, please get in touch so we can review it and build an accurate picture of how this happened.”
