UK’s ‘coolest’ places to move to this year revealed—only 1 in London | UK | Travel

We can all feel a sense of pride when it comes to where we live, from community spirit to local shops and pubs. However, there are 11 places in the UK that have been ranked the “coolest”.

You may be planning a move in 2026 and want some inspiration, or fancy scoping out where to visit this year. Or, you might already live in some of the trendiest spots in the nation and now have the title to show for it. The Times’ Style magazine has released its annual “coolest postcodes” summary, after weighing up everything from food, community, and access to the great outdoors.

Just one area of London has made the list this year, with towns across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland getting a look in. Take a look at where we should all be moving to this year…

Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire MK9

Milton Keynes is not like other towns, having been born in 1967. It has now become an art hub thanks to MK Gallery, which hosts work from the likes of Andy Warhol and Vanessa Bell. There is the biennial International Festival, which sees world-class public and performance art, theatre and dance descend on the town. You can get your heart racing thanks to indoor skydiving, snowboarding and retro games. There’s even the National Film and Sci-Fi Museum, housing props from Indiana Jones, Star Wars and James Bond.

The town, known as Abergwaun in Welsh, once had a reputation as a through-route for people heading to Ireland. Now, it is finally getting the recognition it deserves. From fisherman’s cottages to cobblestone streets, there’s plenty of charm. You can explore bakeries, supper clubs and independent shopping.
