Man Utd 2025 player ratings: Three 3/10s and four 8/10s in mixed bag for Red Devils | Football | Sport
It has been a turbulent year for Manchester United, who are finally on the right path after struggling at the end of last season. They slumped to a 15th-placed finish and suffered more humiliation at the start of the current campaign, when they were beaten by lowly Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup. However, it appears Ruben Amorim has managed to get them ticking and they will be hunting a top-five spot in the Premier League between now and the end of the season.
Express Sport rates every United player who has made a Premier League appearance for them over the last 12 months…
Goalkeepers
Andre Onana – 3
Never got going at Old Trafford thanks to his repeated high-profile errors. Has found a new lease of life on loan at Trabzonspor.
Altay Bayindir – 6
Prone to the odd mistake but has done a decent enough job when called upon to deputise between the sticks.
Senne Lammens – 8
Hit the ground running after arriving in the summer and has firmly established himself as United’s top choice in goal.
Defenders
Diogo Dalot – 5
Plays well on his day but those days aren’t frequent enough. A player United could upgrade on in the near future.
Noussair Mazraoui – 6
Has done just fine over the last 12 months without setting the world alight. A dependable member of the squad.
Luke Shaw – 7
A core member of the side who brings experience and has shown adaptability in playing as a left-sided central defender.
Ayden Heaven – 6
Has managed the step up to senior level pretty well and is being rewarded with more minutes on the pitch.
Patrick Dorgu – 5
Has shown glimpses of quality but hasn’t really hit the ground running in the way he would have liked.
Tyrell Malacia – 4
Fell out of favour towards the end of last season and has only made one appearance this term.
Matthijs de Ligt – 7
Has improved throughout the year and is among the first names on the team sheet for the Red Devils.
Harry Maguire – 7
Gets too much stick for what he brings to the table. His winning goal against Liverpool will live long in the memory.
Lisandro Martinez – 6
Spent the vast majority of the year out injured but was playing well beforehand and has looked fine upon his return.
Tyler Fredricson – 6
Has impressed at times but remains a player for the future, rather than one for the present.
Victor Lindelof – 5
Didn’t have a great second half of last season and was deemed surplus to requirements over the summer. Now with Aston Villa.
Jonny Evans – 6
Did okay as a desperate solution for United in central defence before hanging up his boots at the end of the previous campaign.
Harry Amass – 6
Worked his way into the side in the latter stages of last season. Currently on loan at Championship crisis club Sheffield Wednesday.
Midfielders
Manuel Ugarte – 4
Hasn’t pulled up any trees over the last 12 months and has been reduced to a bit-part player. Not good enough.
Casemiro – 6
Came under fierce scrutiny last season but has stepped it up a level since then, although his best years are clearly behind him.
Kobbie Mainoo – 5
Isn’t rated by his manager but still has the potential to become a very good player. Needs to start taking his chances.
Jack Fletcher – n/a
Made his Premier League debut against Aston Villa and did reasonably well, but it’s hard to judge based purely off that.
Bruno Fernandes – 8
Continues to drag United through difficult times with his leadership and impressive skillset. The club’s most important player.
Mason Mount – 6
Wasn’t at the races last season but has experienced something of a resurgence over the last few months.
Christian Eriksen – 5
Didn’t cover himself in glory last season and was released in the summer. Now plays for Wolfsburg.
Toby Collyer – 5
Was in and around the first team last season but is currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion, where he is playing regularly.
Forwards
Matheus Cunha – 8
Has adapted well to life at United and will be a hugely important asset for the rest of the season.
Joshua Zirkzee – 4
Isn’t really good enough for a club of United’s stature and was probably signed too early in his development to make a big impact.
Benjamin Sesko – 5
Arrived with plenty of hype behind him but hasn’t justified it as of yet. Needs a run of form to build up some confidence.
Amad – 7
A good player with the ability to provide a consistent threat from out wide. United play better when he is firing on all cylinders.
Bryan Mbeumo – 8
Has chipped in with six goals since joining in the summer window. Usually a threat in the final third and works well with Cunha.
Chido Obi – 5
Doesn’t look quite ready for regular minutes at senior level and will be looking to develop his skills in United’s youth ranks.
Shea Lacey – n/a
Has only played six minutes in the Premier League this year, so it’s impossible to make a proper judgment.
Marcus Rashford – 6
Gave his all for United in early 2025 even though it was clear he wanted to leave. Now loving life at Barcelona.
Rasmus Hojlund – 3
Was effectively useless throughout his time at Old Trafford but has excelled since joining Napoli on loan. He should stay there.
Antony – 3
Another terrible player in a United shirt but has done pretty well since joining Real Betis in a move that has worked out for him.
Alejandro Garnacho – 4
Didn’t do much worth mentioning in the second half of last season other than a public spat with his manager. Now at Chelsea.
