Major UK Wi-Fi upgrade confirmed but only if your postcode is on this list

Anyone fed up with dire downloads and slow broadband speeds might want to check their postcode. It’s just been confirmed that one UK Internet Service Provider (ISP) is now offering a serious boost thanks to the launch of a Wi-Fi 7 router. For those not aware, Wi-Fi 7 is the latest technology that’s able to cope with faster speeds and more devices connected to it at once. This upgrade is far superior to the ageing Wi-Fi 4 and Wi-Fi 5 routers many homes have installed and can even beat newer Wi-Fi 6 when it comes to performance.

The ISP now adding this update is Community Fibre, which supplies large parts of London with access to the web.

The new WiFi, Linksys WiFi 7 routers, will be available when customers sign up for its rapid 2.5 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps Premium and 5 Gbps Premium packages, which are capable of beaming a full HD movie to TVs in under 30 seconds.

“Whether you’re working, gaming, or streaming simultaneously, Community Fibre’s WiFi 7 routers will keep customers connected like never before without any slowdown. Users could see faster speed upgrades of up to 40%, ideal for new phones, 8K TVs, VR, and smart home devices,” Community Fibre said.

Prices for 2.5Gbps start from £42 per month – switch to the ultimate 5Gbps speeds and you’ll pay £63 – you can check your postcode here.

Community Fibre isn’t the only provider offering Wi-Fi 7 routers. Sky recently announced it is offering users improved connectivity with two new plans available – Full Fibre 2.5 Gigafast+ and Full Fibre 5 Gigafast+. The UK ISP boasts that these beat its rivals by offering “the UK’s fastest broadband speeds from any major provider”.

EE also has a Wi-Fi 7 system on its most premium plans.
