The latest Kindle Paperwhite has never been this cheap – it won’t last long
If you have been thinking about picking up a new Amazon Kindle e-reader but didn’t do so in the Black Friday sales, you may have been smart to wait it out. Right now, Amazon is selling the latest Kindle Paperwhite for just £92.99 in a “limited time deal” – that means this price won’t last long, but the retailer doesn’t say when the offer will end.
The model on sale is a refurbished Kindle Paperwhite, which means it is a unit that has likely been returned as an unwanted item after being purchased. Amazon makes sure these Kindles are thoroughly cleaned and checked to make sure they are in full working order, and they should look and feel brand new. It usually sells for £143.99.
A quick look on Amazon price comparison site Camelcamelcamel confirms this is the lowest price the refurbished Kindle Paperwhite has ever sold for, and the first time it has cost less than £100.
A brand new Kindle Paperwhite usually costs £159.99, so this one dipping under £100 is a superb price. At £92.99, it’s actually cheaper than the base Kindle, whose RRP is £94.99
The refurbished model on sale is the latest version of the Paperwhite released in 2024, which boasts 25 percent faster page turns than the previous generation with a 7-inch display and up to 12 weeks of battery life.
I’ve tested the 2024 Kindle Paperwhite and it’s the most refined Kindle yet. Compared to the base Kindle it has a larger screen with a flush finish to the casing, with a grippy rubberised back so you can hold it one-handed without a case.
The frontlight is very good, and you can adjust the warmth of the screen too so it has a less harsh light when you’re reading at night or in low light.
Add in full waterproofing and this is a Kindle you can take in the bath or to the beach without worrying too much about your gadget. The black e-reader also has 16GB, which is enough space to store thousands of e-books given their tiny file size.
If you want to listen to audiobooks using Amazon-owned service Audible you can do so on the Kindle too, though their larger file size will fill up your storage quicker. You’ll also need Bluetooth headphones to listen in, as the Kindle doesn’t have speakers or a headphone jack.
As with all of Amazon’s limited time deals, there’s no way of knowing how long they will last. We also don’t know if this Kindle will get any cheaper, but at £92.99, I wouldn’t bet on it.
