Virgin Media gives all TV customers a huge free channel upgrade

Virgin Media has been on a run in 2025, adding several new channels and content to its TV offerings, usually at no extra cost to its subscribers. Just in time for the holiday season, the company has done it again.

The firm has just announced it is launching Tubi on Virgin Media TV, which brings the Fox Corporation-owned streaming service to all Virgin Media TV customers.

Tubi is an ad-supported streaming service with a catalogue of more than 60,000 films and TV show episodes, all of which are being made available to Virgin TV households from today.

Films these customers will be able to watch in December include Zombieland, Baby Driver, Bend it Like Beckham, Jack and Jill, Robin Hood (2018) and La La Land.

“Our partnership with Virgin Media enables us to connect more UK viewers with free movies and TV series they’re passionate about,” said Ross Appleton, General Manager, UK, at Tubi. “As a platform known for curating top-tier entertainment, Virgin Media is an ideal home for Tubi’s expansive catalogue. Together, we’re offering audiences greater choice through a seamless and easily accessible TV experience.”

Available TV shows on Tubi include Naomi Osaka: The Second Set, Please Don’t Feed The Children and Sidelined.

Tubi, which says it has 100 million monthly active users worldwide, is available to anyone in the UK via its website, and does not even require viewers to make an account to stream (but creating an account lets you save your progress to pick up where you left off). This free platform is possible by showing you ads before and during programming.

Adding Tubi to Virgin Media TV gives the service a wider distribution in the UK via traditional set top boxes.

“Our goal at Virgin TV is to curate high quality entertainment and world-leading programming for our customers,” said David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2.

“We do this so they can enjoy the best viewing experience with the best possible value. We are delighted therefore to add Tubi to our offering, giving Virgin TV customers access to one of the world’s biggest offerings of world-famous movies, TV shows and documentaries at absolutely no extra cost. With Tubi, we know families can immerse themselves in even more must-see on demand entertainment on the Virgin TV platform.”

Tubi claims 95 percent of content viewed on its platform is on-demand movies and TV shows, but it also includes 30 FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) channels showing linear broadcasting with ads. These channels include content from Lionsgate, A&E, Banijay, and Filmrise.
