Dramatic footage has shown the moments after a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado exploded and burst into flames in the courtyard of a residential building on Raduzhnaya Street in the Moscow on morning. The blast occurred at about 9.40am local time. Eyewitnesses described a powerful initial explosion followed by secondary blasts as the SUV became fully engulfed. The shockwave shattered windows on the third and fourth floors of the adjacent apartment block, scattering glass across balconies and into apartments.

Moscow’s Ministry of Emergency Situations said firefighters extinguished the blaze within minutes. The vehicle, parked in the courtyard, was empty at the time; no injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation by the capital’s Investigative Committee.

Preliminary reports have not indicated whether the explosion resulted from a technical malfunction, arson, or an improvised device.

Video circulating on Russian Telegram channels showed thick black smoke rising above the 17-story building while residents filmed from windows.

Authorities have cordoned off the area and are examining the wreckage.

The incident is the latest in a series of vehicle explosions in Moscow residential zones in recent years, though most previous cases involved targeted attacks or confirmed weeks later.
