Bolton helicopter crash LIVE: Horror as helicopter ‘falls from the sky’ in UK town | UK | News

Greater Manchester Police has now released more information following the emergency landing of an aircraft in Bolton.

The vehicle involved was a gyrocopter, a type of aircraft that uses an unpowered rotor to provide lift, while an engine attached to a propeller at the back moves the aircraft forward.

The rotor spins freely in the wind, which means that even after an engine failure, it can often safely glide down to a landing.

In this case, the video shows the aircraft seemingly spinning after losing control; however, the pilot, a man in his 60s,  seems to have managed to regain control before making a “forced landing”.

A GMP spokesperson added: “At around 1.25pm today (Thursday 13 November 2025), we were called to reports of a gyrocopter crash on Kilworth Drive in Lostock, Bolton.

“Officers attended the scene and located the pilot – a man in his 60s. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

“It is believed it was a forced landing, as opposed to a crash. Air accident investigators are currently investigating the incident.”
