Oscars 2025: Adam Sandler leaves after being mocked for outfit
Adam Sandler’s newest film has landed on Netflix, featuring the return of one of his most beloved characters.
Happy Gilmore 2 is now ready for streaming on the popular platform, marking the latest instalment in the ongoing partnership between Netflix and the actor.
Sandler’s profitable contract with Netflix, first inked in 2014 and renewed several times since, has resulted in a slew of films being added to the service.
The deal, reportedly worth $250 million for four films, encompasses both movies starring the comedian and those produced by his Happy Madison company.
Here are ten standout Adam Sandler titles currently available on Netflix.

Uncut Gems
Uncut Gems sparked the collaboration between Sandler and the Safdie brothers, who co-wrote and directed the film , reports the Mirror.
Sandler takes on the role of a charismatic jeweller who places a high-stakes bet that could yield a life-changing fortune. In a risky balancing act, he must juggle business, family, and adversaries on all fronts in his quest for the ultimate victory.
This film diverges from Sandler’s usual comedic fare and comes with a caution that it can be, at times, unsettling to watch. Many fans argue that this performance should have earned the comic actor an Oscar.
A fan exclaimed: “Adam Sandler ‘was robbed’ as Kathy Bates advised him. That he didn’t win an Oscar for his starring role in Uncut Gems was an outrage. The directing was equally deserving of an Oscar nod. Likewise, the screenplay, and the overwhelming score, which conveyed a pounding chaos which coincided with the “in your face” story. All of these components of the film combined to produce a heartpoundingly suspenseful, and tension-filled experience.”
Hustle.
Topping Adam Sandler’s Rotten Tomatoes ratings at 94% is his 2022 hit Hustle. This film sees Sandler in another sports-centric role, delivering a sincere performance rather than chasing laughs.
A more relaxed viewing compared to Uncut Gems, Sandler portrays a basketball scout whose luck has run out and who contemplates heading home for good, harbouring dreams of coaching.
But when he stumbles upon an exceptional and totally undiscovered player overseas, he decides to bring the talent back without his team’s consent.
Another enthusiast remarked: “I thought that it’d just be another sports movie, but it was more than I expected. It was a heartfelt story, with undertones of “Rocky” nostalgia, and an exceptional cast. Easily, one of Sandler’s best”.

The Meyerowitz Stories.
Penned and helmed by Noah Baumbach, this represents another departure from Sandler’s usual fare. An ensemble cast piece where his acting is enhanced by the talents of Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman, Emma Thompson and Adam Driver.
The story centres on distant siblings who reunite to honour their father, Harold Meyerowitz, and his artistic legacy during an unconventional family gathering in New York.
One admirer gushed: “Hilarious, heartfelt, quirky, witty family comedy-drama. Oh and it also stars a few acting giants too, Hoffman, Bergen, Stiller, Weaver, Thomspon and Sandler like you’ve never seen the dude before. Can’t recommend this stellar little film highly enough.”
You Are So Not Invited to my Bat Mitzvah.
This 2023 offering secured 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and features Sandler in a supporting capacity. Rather, it’s his daughter who commands centre stage.
The narrative follows best mates Stacy and Lydia, who’ve long fantasised about spectacular bat mitzvahs. Yet matters begin to unravel hilariously when a crush and secondary school melodrama jeopardises both their bond and coming-of-age ceremony.
One viewer observed: “A little cheesy, a bit predictable in some parts, but still an overall feel good film. You’ll feel some emotions, get a few laughs. Adam Sandler steps back to let his (real life! ) daughter Sunny steal the show”.

Leo
A more wholesome offering features Sandler voicing Leo the Lizard in this animated adventure.
Leo has been trapped in the same Florida classroom for decades, and upon discovering he has just one year remaining, he plots his escape to freedom.
However, his plans take an unexpected turn when he must save his pupils from their dreadful substitute teacher.
One viewer praised: “Such an underrated movie! Most cartoon movies are for kids but you could watch this one even if your an adult and still enjoy it.”
Big Daddy
Among Sandler’s timeless offerings currently on Netflix is this tale of the reckless Koufax, who finds himself abandoned by his girlfriend for an older gentleman.
In a bid to win her back, he adopts a five year old lad, but their time together transforms him into the father figure the child truly needs.
A fan remarked: “Like a lot of the golden age Adam Sandler films, it is quite a memorable and eminently quotable film. It also has great lessons about growing up and not judging books by their cover, and not being a bully.”
Happy Gilmore
Whilst Sandler returns to his iconic Happy Gilmore character in a fresh sequel that’s just landed on Netflix, the 1996 original remains accessible too.
Only time will reveal whether devotees feel the new instalment matches the brilliance of its predecessor. For those unfamiliar with this debut venture, it’s absolutely worth a watch.
Sandler portrays the eponymous Happy, a would-be hockey star who enters the PGA tour to earn cash and rescue his grandmother’s home from foreclosure.
However, his fiery temperament proves ill-suited for challenging the sport’s reigning champion and clinching the title. One enthusiast wrote: “One of the most beloved Adam Sandler movies of all time. It received a reputation as a cult classic. The movie strikes at an effective blend of funny silly comedy, and relatable drama.”
Spaceman
For viewers eagerly anticipating Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary, Spaceman serves as an excellent introduction. The premise bears similarities, though with notable distinctions.
Half a year into a solitary space voyage, an isolated astronaut grapples with his deteriorating marriage, aided by an enigmatic being he encounters aboard his vessel.
One viewer declared: “This movie is a true masterpiece, designed for those who appreciate deep, reflective, and psychologically advanced narratives. It’s not merely entertainment, but a profound exploration that offers wisdom and insight.”
Adam Sandler: Love You
Technically not a film but rather Sandler’s most recent comedy special. Nevertheless, helmed by one of the Safdie brothers, it’s framed by segments that feel distinctly cinematic.
There are even spontaneous moments during the performance that will leave viewers questioning what’s genuine and what’s rehearsed. Boasting a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and snagging an Emmy nomination, it’s hailed as one of Sandler’s finest works and is essential viewing for aficionados of his comedic journey.
A fan raved: “I honestly think this was a piece of art, there is no other comedy special like it, making you feel like you’re watching a scene of a movie, great songs, the ending is something that we’ll look back and appreciate so much more in the future.”
