Drivers on the M25 faced severe rush hour delays this evening as firefighters battled a huge fire.

Pictures show flames, scorched earth and smoke billowing metres from the busy carriageway between J26 A121 (Waltham Abbey) and J25 A10 Great Cambridge Road (Enfield).

There were huge queues as 70 firefighters battled the blaze. Traffic was held at around 4.40pm causing hugh tailbacks to the M11.

Drivers were being urged to steer clear where possible. Traffic returned to normal at around 5.50pm.
