Queen Camilla’s Italy visit gives her chance to wear ‘stunning jewels’ | Royal | News
On Monday, Queen Camilla and King Charles are set to arrive in Rome, Italy, for a four-day trip where they will also celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary.
As well as keeping a close eye on their royal engagements, fashion fans will be keen on observing Queen Camilla’s fashion and jewellery choices, with one diamond expert stating these choices made during the visit will carry “deep historical significance”. Tobias Kormind, Managing Director and Co-Founder of 77 Diamonds said: “Queen Camilla’s jewellery choices will undoubtedly exude timeless elegance while carrying deep historical significance. For daytime engagements, she often opts for sophisticated yet understated pieces, favouring her signature pearl jewellery, including her four-strand pearl and diamond choker, which she has worn on numerous occasions.”
The jewellery expert explained how choices are made with respect to the visiting culture. They said: “She may choose to also select a brooch that has cultural significance as a gesture of respect towards her hosts. For instance, during a state visit to Australia in October 2024, Camilla wore the Australian Wattle brooch, originally gifted to Elizabeth II in 1954.
“Given Italy’s rich artistic heritage, Camilla may opt to wear pieces that have historical ties to Italy while also paying tribute to her royal predecessors.”
With several Vatican-related engagements in Rome called off, due to the Pope Francis recovering from pneumonia, the revised itinerary features an extended two-day programme in the Italian capital, where additional elements are now incorporated into some events.
Italian president Sergio Mattarella will host a banquet in honour of Britain’s King Charles and Queen Camilla on Wednesday as part of the tour at the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome.
Speaking of the banquet and what Camilla might opt for from her jewellery collection, the expert advised: “The Italian state banquet presents a rare opportunity for Queen Camilla to wear one of the British Royal Family’s stunning tiaras.
“Her preferred choice is the Greville Tiara, also known as the Boucheron Honeycomb Tiara. The iconic tiara is known for its distinctive honeycomb-patterned diamond pattern and was loaned to Camilla by Queen Elizabeth II following her marriage to Charles in 2005.
“Since then, she has worn the tiara on numerous significant occasions including the German state banquet at the Bellevue tiara in 2023.”
