Eastern Europe is becoming a more popular destination for those seeking a break abroad.

One place in particular has been listed as somewhere that’s worth visiting as people decide where they want to go in 2025.

The seaside resort is also cost-efficient, and will save you some cash. This is especially handy if you’re “young and broke”, or just a bargain loving Brits who loves soaking up some sun on a budget.

Kayak has assembled its recommendations, with the site saying that those looking for a “cheap beach holiday” can’t go wrong with Bulgaria‘s Black Sea resort of Golden Sands.

The area is “reminiscent of Croatia” – a popular destination for Brits, from interailers to families – because of its terracotta-tiled rooftops and sandy shores, the site adds.

Golden Sands also boasts the Blue Flag resort badge for its clean beaches.

Kayak says: “Beautiful yachts bob in the marina and there is a cool and eclectic vibe at the beachside clubs.

“Generally, a beer or a coffee will set you back under £2, while a large bottle of water is about 75p.

“Hotels are also cheap and start from as low as £20 a night.

“There are often drink deals available at most bars too. If you’re after a larger party scene, head to Sunny Beach which is similar price-wise.”

Experts say the best time to visit Golden Sands is June to September.

The price of a beer is only £2.15, with the rice of a cappuccino a very fair £1.70.

The price of a meal at an “inexpensive” restaurant, meanwhile, is £8.50.

Other recomended activities include walking along Golden Sands’ four kilometre promenade, chilling out on the beach or enjoying the area’s Nature Park.

A woman called Kathy from Leicester recently posted a summary of her visit to the resort on Trip Advisor in June 2023.

She said: “We needed to rearrange our holiday at the last minute because of flight avaibility and ended up having five days at Golden Sands. We booked all inclusive at Argisht Parez.”

The group “had a good experience all around”.

Kathy added: “The resort has serveral miles of beach with different levels of commercialisation.

“The top end (south?) seems more recently built and is less built up, the lower end is several bars and small shops deep.

“We enjoyed mooching up and down the sea front, we had a game of mini golf and are planning a visit to the 6D cinema before we leave. We also got the bus into the city for the day and had a great time, a day pass was 4 Lev from the machine on the bus (very easy).

“The bars in the lower part of the strip has lots of bars selling cheap shots and cocktails so, I guess it may get a bit rowdy later on but it didn’t effect us.

“I think we heard British voice only twice in our trip but, we were relieved that English is the common tourist language, it was very easy to communicate. It all turned out really well.”
